SS-TOTENKOPFVERBANDE RANK SHOULDERSTRAPS SS-TOTENKOPFVERBANDE UNIT PATCHES |

The SS-TV (SS Deathshead Units) were barracked units
of the SS established to administer the concentration camps
started by the SA and the SS to isolate "enemies of the
State". SS-TV units moblized at the start of the war
as combat units became the 3. Totenkopf Division and
concentration camp duties were taken over by SS reservists.
In 1941, to later detriment of W-SS combat troops, the
SS-TV became part of the Waffen-SS and began to wear
standard W-SS uniforms.
The black SS uniform (see SECTION 3 ALLGEMEINE-SS) was
the dress and service uniform for the SS-TV. A special
earthbrown uniform was used for service within the camp.
Fieldgrey service uniforms cut like the black uniform began
to be issued in 1937. Unit collar patches used the
SS Totenkopf skull. SS-TV EM shoulderstraps for the fieldgrey
uniform were modeled after German army straps but most other
insignia were Allg-SS related .
