ALLGEMEINE-SS RANK INSIGNIA & SHOULDERSTRAPS ALLGEMEINE-SS UNIT PATCHES
Often referred to as the Allgemeine-SS uniform.
But as Himmler stated, The uniform for the entire
SS including the Waffen-SS, for dress & Service
was the standard open collar black uniform. Starting in
1932 the more respectable black tunic and white tunic for
summer dress replaced the streetfighter brownshirt.
Both tunics used piped Allg-SS rank patches
and brownshirt shoulderstraps.
In 1938 some Allg-SS departments were issued fieldgrey
open collar uniforms, exactly like the black uniform,
with black tunic insignia. Later, for active duty,
centain units technically part of the Allg-SS wore the
closed collar uniform of the Waffen-SS, some with black tunic insignia.
During the war, eligible part-time members of the Allg-SS
were sent into W-SS and Wehrmacht combat units and the
black uniform was seledom worn again.
Ranks A through G rank collar patches for the black tunic.
(Allg-SS) are black wool and the same as W-SS but have black and
Silver piping
Ranks J through U ramk collar patches for the black tunic
(and the entire SS) are the same as W-SS.
Ranks A through U shoulderstraps for the black tunic are
traditional brownshirt pattern silver & black or silver cords on a black woll base. One strap on the right shoulder for the black tunic. Straps may be used as sew-in or slip-on.
